Alfred
Sheinwold of Los Angeles,
formerly of New York City, born
in London England; bridge author
and columnist. One of the most
successful player-writer
personalities. Member ACBL Hall
of Fame. During World War II was
chief code and cipher expert of
OSS. From 1945-1955 he sang with
the Cantata singers. Non-playing
captain for North American Team
in 1975 Bermuda Bowl when two
Italian players were accused of
cheating. He captained the 1985
North American Team that won the
Bermuda Bowl. Won Chicago (now
Reisinger) 1958, Mens Teams
1964; placed 2nd Vanderbilt 1958,
Chicago 1959.

successively as technical editor,
managing editor and senior
editor, editor of ACBL Bulletin
1952-1958, editor-in-chief of
Autobridge since 1938.
For years
he was bridge editor of the Los
Angeles Times. Contributing
